About

The Tararua Hutbagging Contest 2011 is loosely based on the sport of rogaining – “Rogaining is the sport of long distance cross-country navigation for teams travelling on foot. The object is to score points by finding checkpoints located on the course within a specified time. “

Members from LandSAR Lower North Island, as well as Police SAR Squad and Airforce BCF, are invited to participate.

Starting from the 29th September, teams have until 10 weeks to complete up to 3 trips into the Tararuas.  Each trip must be a maximum of 48 hours (points will be deducted if you are late!), and points are earned by “bagging” huts and visiting other points of interest. Check out the points page to see what each hut is worth.  The team with the most points at the end of the competition wins!
